The Pink Paradise of Mt Kuju

In spring, 

The Heart of Mt Kuju turns Pink.

This mountainous area is a National Park in the center of Kyushu.

Time to explore.

Early warning signs of Pink to come.

Trails at Kuju Nat Park are well marked. 

Today's first goal is the top of Mt Taisen.

A view over my right shoulder.

That peak on the left is always smoking and rumbling.

Volcanic activity is paramount of this area.

Getting further to the top.

A magic view of Mt Yufu near Yufuin.

Pink is playing peak-a-boo everywhere.

That's what you can call a magic Rock Garden.

Woaoaaa, say No More.

 Next goal is Mt Hijidake. 

Best Pink Peak of All.

Made it to the top of Pink Paradise.

Of course on such a magic day, i wasn't the only hiker.

But still, it felt Pink was there for me alone.

 One more shot in Pink Paradise.

Couldn't stop taking pictures.

at Chojabaru car-park after a 6 hours hike in Pink Paradise.

Dessert?

A good soak in one of the many hot-springs.

The Way to Go: By camping-car around Kyushu

Alishan on the Move

Because we are great believers in:

1. RV-ing means you have your own transport: Come and go as you please. No suitcase dragging...
2. RV-ing: enjoy the real Japan in a relaxing way. No time-tables.
3. RV means you can visit unspoiled locations & Kyushu's great nature. Go to locations public transport can not take you.
4. RV-ing means: See the sights, not the tourists. There is more than Kyoto and Tokyo!
5. RV-ing means: easier to meet the locals and true Japanese culture.

Hiking Kurodake in Kuju Land

One late Monday night in April saw us 

on board of Esther the Car zooefing towards Kuju Land. 

Just before midnight we arrived at the car park near Mt Kuro 

where we slept a good sleep till 6 AM.

While Marijke stayed "down stairs" to look for birds...

i went up the mountain.

It's a reasonable loop trail, a bit tough 

mostly due to the sharp edged stones.

(on  return to Esther the Car..i discovered my hardly used trail shoes were almost ruined).

Mt Taisen on the other side.

It's a pretty place to visit in Spring.

This cave is keeping All Year Around Snow and Ice.

Near the base of Mt Kuro, 

there is a water point with real sparkling H2O.

After a 6+ hour trail, that water taste so bubbly!

An other pretty day on and around Mt Kuju Land.

....peeppeep peeppeep....

the alarm makes oodles of noice at 02:00 and by

03:00 we are all packed-up inside Esther the Car 

and zoeffing over semi deserted roads towards Mt Kuju,

 in the heart of Kyushu.

Just after sunrise we arrive at Chojabaru and here we split-up,

.....after a chu-chu of course..... :

And yes, it was an other Amazing Day,

only a few hours away from the boat and the sea but

 it felt like a long vacation. 
The weather wasn't super (i got rained off the mountain as can be seen in the tube) but thanks to the strong-ish wind we had plenty of clear skies as well.

That day i spotted a rainbow at 5 different locations.

Regarding the video: it turns out that transferring the 

"real" to YouTube does something to the quality. 

Still have to find out what the best settings are.
