Leisurely Hiking in Kyushu

We all wanted to go for a Hike.
None of us was keen on too much strain.
So, somehow we ended up hiking this area
 in the middle Kyushu.
Not sure if it was in Oita or Kumamoto Prefecture.
But what a joyful & leisure hike it became.
See here some pictures.

Looks easy enough, don't you agree?

Arriving at the top....and the view....
...as so often, a bit Japanese hazy, but still spectacular.

Always something to read.
Shoot with Google Translate, and you "know" it all.

If needed, there is a hiking stick for you.....
As found at so many trail-heads.
Great service.

It was an other crowded day at this Kyushu Hiking trail.

 even spotted some wildlife.

Sign shows you the way and what to see at different the seasons.

This too is a great destination for your
Camper Rental Trip.

Best time of the Year

Yes, to me:
SPRING
is the Best time of the Year.
(please ignore the date of publishing this posting ;-)

Days are getting longer & warmer.
All around us flowers, blossom and fresh green are making me happy.

And of course, it's great weather for Hikes and Bikes
in and around Fukuoka and beyond.

The following are some pictures taken during a local hike,
only a 30 minutes bicycle ride from Alishan.

.
At the top of Kanondake, Imajuku.

Next, some pictures taken during a Fun Run
into the country side @ Itoshima.

Always happy to see Fuji in Bloom.

An other pleasing thing to see.....

Rice planting!
 May is in full swing.

Always good to have friends of friends.
This is Mr Shinkai san.
His hobby is making soba.
One day, we = the friends, ran all the way (25K)
to be fed @ his house in Itoshima  .
Did you hear any complains?

And While On the Run
at our local small forest, we found these 'wild strawberries".
For a week, we came home every day with a nice portion to be mixed with our yogurt.
Yummy.

Salute.

The Way to Go: By camping-car around Kyushu

Alishan on the Move
is now working together with 3seven77,
a local Camping-car (RV) rental place in Yanagawa, Fukuoka.

Because we are great believers in:

  1. RV-ing means you have your own transport: Come and go as you please. No suitcase dragging...
  2. RV-ing: enjoy the real Japan in a relaxing way. No time-tables.
  3. RV means you can visit unspoiled locations & Kyushu's great nature. Go to locations public transport can not take you.
  4. RV-ing means: See the sights, not the tourists. There is more than Kyoto and Tokyo!
  5. RV-ing means: easier to meet the locals and true Japanese culture.

February Fun Facts part 1

  Welcome, welcome, welcome.

Here comes a series of 4 updates
what Alishan on the Move did and saw in February.
Yep, the coldest month of the year...
but it's also the turn-around of the winter towards spring.
Yeah...

First of All, this maneki neko (fortune cat).
Found her in a display at Mamushi Onsen in Itoshima
She was hand made by a 84 year old lady.
And indeed February brought us good health and (some) fortune :-)

We had some snow the other day...
so time to enjoy a white hike!

Start of the trail to Tombo Yama

Always confusing to see oranges covered with snow..

The sign reads something like:
Mountain, thank you for using you.....

After enough picture taking & absorbing of the scenery
...it was down the trail..
and spearheading for that Mamushi Onsen.

Not a bad day at all.
